Is dull, dry skin an accessory in your autumn wardrobe? Swap it out!
Autumn and winter are notoriously tricky months for our skin. Falling temperatures, icy winds and reduced daylight dominate the weather forecasts, bringing a strong chance of dry and dull skin with them.
If you live in the UK, you’re probably thinking, “hold on a minute, we haven’t had a summer yet”. But as the leaves begin to fall, pumpkin spiced lattes fill your insta feed, and you try to hold out for as long as possible before turning the central heating on (we all do it), it’s time to season-proof your skincare regime.
Just like your wardrobe, it’s important to switch skincare items in and out to suit the season. Although, personally, I wouldn’t say no to Christmas PJs all year round. As we swap shorts for shackets, and swimwear for scarves, let’s look at the products you’ll need to keep your skin happy, healthy and hydrated.
Say hello to serums
If our skin went to a bar, it would be ignoring the cocktail menu and ordering unlimited tap water instead – the ideal companion if you’re buying in rounds! It really just can’t get enough of the stuff. But, crisper, colder air can drain our skin. Luckily, natural serums (in particular humectants) do a great job of keeping our moisture levels topped up to perfection.
Rainforest Dew Hydrating Serum
Overflowing with hyaluronic acid – a super ingredient that holds 1,000 times its weight in water – our lightweight Rainforest Dew Hydrating Serum soaks your skin with the moisture it’s craving. Enriched with evergreen fern and advanced plant peptides, this serum will leave your skin feeling smooth and bouncy.
Introduce oils
As the degrees fall outside, people tend to whack up their central heating and indulge in blistering hot showers. With these constantly changing temperatures, it’s no wonder our skin’s delicate moisture balance gets confused. But, oils can help!
Super Greens Nutrient Boost Oil
Brimming with vitamin C, tamanu oil and green coffee, a few daily drops of this plant-based powerhouse will moisturise, soothe, and smooth skin texture.
Just because the days are getting darker, doesn’t mean your complexion has to follow suit. Our original Elixir brightens skin and creates a youthful radiance. Moisturising moringa oil and anti-inflammatory rosehip oil combine to produce a bottle that’s bursting with omegas, vitamins, and antioxidants and that’s sure to banish those winter skin woes.
Swap your body wash
What’s better than a long, hot shower on a frosty morning? Well, lots, according to your skin (and the planet!) Showers can inflame and irritate the skin, dehydrating and stripping it of natural oils. As well as reducing the time you spend in the shower – maybe just belt out one or two of your favourite songs instead of the whole playlist – try to opt for a natural body wash, too.
Our perfectly pH-balanced Body Wash gets rid of sweat, dirt and dead skin, while keeping hold of all the good stuff. Guava leaf juice, bamboo water and avocado oil star in this wonderful wash, leaving skin hydrated, refreshed, and protected.
Use a more intense moisturiser
Opting for a thicker, creamier moisturiser during the colder months can help to lock in hydration. It’s just like wrapping your skin in a lovely, warm blanket. Accompanying hot chocolates and Disney movies are optional.
Once you’ve jumped (or reluctantly built up the courage to step) out of the shower, treat your skin to some Body Love Firming Buttercream. Blended with shea butter, coconut oil, and lemon essential oils, it gives skin a smoother, firmer appearance with a healthy glow.
Whipped Body Velvet Intensely Rich Buttermelt
When the chilly weather sets in, we bask in the delights of hearty, rich foods that leave us feeling all warm and cosy. Endless roast dinners and puddings, anyone? With its perfectly whipped consistency and coconut and vanilla extracts, you’d be forgiven for mistaking our decadent cream-to-mousse formulation for buttercream icing. But try to resist digging your spoon straight into the pot and let this dessert-like dream feed your skin instead.
Vitamin-rich baobab oil, replenishing rarabe oil, and mouthwatering Madagascan vanilla extract are the heroes of this skin-nourishing formula. Melting at body temperature so it effortlessly soaks in, it’ll leave your skin feeling hydrated, repaired and renewed.
Benefit from balms
Used for centuries, balms are the one-stop-shop for seasonal skin challenges. Whether you’re battling chapped lips, dry skin, sore cuticles, or anything in between, you’ve just found the ultimate weapon to combat them.
Tamanu Balm All-In-One Skin Saviour
Known as ‘green gold’ by French Polynesians for their anti-inflammatory qualities, tamanu nuts combine with antioxidant blackcurrant extract and hydrating cupuaçu butter to produce an award-winning formula that’s good enough to eat.
Apply generously to any skin that needs attention (as long as it’s not an open wound), and watch it repair, soothe and hydrate.
Tamanu Cream Sensitive Skin Saviour
One lot of Tamanu just won’t do, so we’ve brought you two. Designed to restore distressed skin, this nourishing cream repairs, hydrates and reduces any inflammation. Even the freezing temperatures can’t stop this beauty melting into your skin.
SPF for all seasons
So, summer has been and gone – albeit fleetingly – but that doesn’t mean you can slack on your SPF. Even when it’s freezing outside – I’m talking lip-chattering, knee-wobbling, two-pairs-of-socks-at-once freezing – we still need to protect our skin from sun damage.
The sun’s UV rays are just as powerful throughout autumn and winter. In fact, the ozone layer is at its thinnest towards the end of the year, so those pesky rays can sneak through more easily than ever, causing premature ageing, as well as elasticity and collagen breakdown.
Luckily, we’ve created the ultimate daily SPF50, Sun Day. Think of it as your personal bodyguard, fighting off all those harmful UVA and UVB rays. Oh, and it’s waterproof! Packed with hydrating hyaluronic acid, calming banana flower extract, and nourishing prebiotics, it effortlessly sinks into the skin, offering maximum protection without leaving a trace. So, come rain, sun, or snow, SPF is your skincare BFF.
