It’s time for our Infinite Purpose round-up!
Each month, we’re bringing you updates on how Tropic's green skincare is spreading positivity around the globe, and how your orders are helping to fund our amazing work. This July’s been no exception. Here’s what we’ve been doing in the past four weeks to create a healthier, greener, more empowered world.
United for education with UWS
Our partnership with United World Schools is going from strength to strength. Since we first started collaborating with this charity in September 2019, we’ve funded an incredible 5.6 million school days for children who would otherwise miss out on education. In the last six months alone, we’ve raised enough for over 5,000 children at 40 existing schools to receive an education for an entire year.
As well as opening a new school in Nepal in April this year, we’re pleased to say that our school in Madagascar is nearing completion. This is hugely exciting, as it’ll be the very first UWS project in the country. With only 40% of Madagascan children finishing primary education currently, this project will bring a new world of opportunities for the next generation.
Our school in Madagascar, funded by Tropic orders
The opening ceremony will be held at the beginning of August in Ampandrivotse, a village of 600 people located on the southwestern coast of Madagascar. The children are so excited to start learning in September and their parents are delighted about the school's projected impact for generations to come.
Just like all other UWS schools, it will be supported by us for between five and seven years until it can be fully independent, self-sustaining, and supported by the local government.
Hey Chicks!
As part of creating a greener world, we partnered with Forestry England to plant our very own Tropic Forest in the Hampshire South Downs. This opened in spring 2022, and our flourishing partnership has only continued to thrive. We're now supporting their goshawk programme at the New Forest National Park... and want to introduce you to three very special goshawk chicks.
Championing chicks!
Back from the brink of extinction, this beautiful bird of prey returned to the New Forest in 2002 after a 120-year absence, and Forestry England has been working hard to ensure they’re able to repopulate successfully. The delicate task of ringing young goshawks got underway last month – a process which allows Forestry England to monitor the birds and keep track of the species’ recovery. We can’t wait to see their development!
Full of pride
Tropic believes in creating a more empowered world – one where everyone can be their true self, regardless of who they are or who they love. That’s why we've donated to akt, a British charity that carries out vital work supporting LGBTQ+ 16–25-year-olds who're experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment. akt helps these vulnerable young people by ensuring they stay safe in a crisis, find emergency accommodation, access specialist support, and develop new skills to achieve their life goals.
24% of homeless young people identify as LGBTQ+ – a hugely inflated demographic compared to the general population. Nobody should face homelessness or violence because of who they are. To celebrate pride, our entire HQ team got involved by making a Tropic Pride flag, featuring the handprints of our LGBTQ+ team and allies alike. We also decorated our HQ with as much colour and life as possible, honouring 50 years of Pride in the UK.
Thanks as always for choosing Tropic. We take pride in how our natural beauty products spread such a wide-reaching positive impact around the globe, caring for people to planet. Every purchase funds a force for good beyond beauty.
