Let's Talk About Why It's All In The Eyes

By Victoria Nufer

The delicate skin around your eyes is one of the first areas to show signs of ageing, discolouration, fatigue, and environmental damage. Our range of eye care has been expertly formulated with plant actives and botanical benefits to address these concerns, offering targeted results than just skincare alone. For a full 360° skincare routine, where no area is left out, we’ve compiled the ultimate guide for brighter eyes.

Delicate Skin Needs Special Attention

The skin around your eyes is up to 10x thinner than the rest of your face, making it more susceptible to damage. This fragility requires gentle, yet effective care. Our Hydrogel Eye Masks have been designed to deliver potent skincare actives in the easiest, gentlest way. A concentrated solid serum of nature’s most quenching ingredients, each mask creates an effective barrier on the skin to retain moisture and allow for faster and deeper absorption of the active ingredients. Bursting with aloe vera juice, bio-peptides and red algae extract, these innovative patches replenish moisture, combat dark circles and reduce fine lines, without any irritation.

Combat the First Signs of Ageing

With the area around your eyes being considerably thinner than the rest of you face, it can degenerate faster, too. Signs of ageing become more prominent in this area, and it’s usually the first place you start noticing fine lines and pigmentation. One of the primary benefits of eye care is its ability to tackle early signs of ageing. According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, regular use of eye creams containing retinol can significantly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Cue our special edition Eye Dream Overnight Butterbalm. This multi-antioxidant blend has been meticulously crafted with botanical bio-retinol to address the signs of ageing and deeply nourish and restore your eye area.

Reduce Puffiness & Dark Circles

Undereye puffiness and dark circles are common skincare concerns. Ingredients like caffeine, hyaluronic acid, and peptides are particularly effective in addressing these issues. Antioxidant caffeine constricts blood vessels, tightening skin, evening tone and protecting against future hyperpigmentation by fortifying it against free radical damage. It’s why we infused our cult-favourite Eye Work Rejuvenating Serum with awakening coffee cherry extract. But increasing undereye brightness by 28%* isn’t its only claim to fame, this unique formula comes kitted out with a bespoke ZAMAC applicator tip – a patented technology from Germany, it’s created from an alloy of zinc, aluminium, magnesium and copper. We moulded its bespoke shape in-house, ensuring it’s perfect for hugging the contours of the eyes to visibly depuff skin.

Optimising Your Eye Care Routine

  1. Consistency is Key: To reap the full benefits of your eye care, consistency is crucial. Incorporate eye creams into your morning and evening skincare routines to ensure continuous hydration, protection and rejuvenation. For an extra treat that supercharges your skincare results, take time to indulge in an eye mask a couple of times a week, too!
  2. Apply Eye Care First: Eye cream should be applied after cleansing and toning, but before moisturising. That’s because moisturisers are designed to do exactly that, moisturise, and whereas your eye care has been crafted with higher amounts of actives to address more specific concerns. Moisturiser can create a barrier betweenyour eye care and skin, preventing the ingredients from penetrating and unlocking their results. Applying eye cream first, before any other products, will also help protect the delicate area from more potent formulas that may irritate the sensitive, thinner skin around your eyes.
  3. Gentle Application: Remember, this area of skin is exceptionally delicate, so take extra care when applying your products. Always use your ring finger to apply eye cream, as it exerts the least pressure. Gently tap the product around the orbital bone and avoid tugging the delicate skin.
  4. Sun Protection: The skin around your eyes is particularly vulnerable to UV damage, so never skip on SPF. Your skin always needs an extra layer of protection to prevent premature ageing and hyperpigmentation and, above all else, to keep it healthy.

Eye care goes where other skincare can’t. Specially formulated to target the specific needs of this delicate and unique area of skin, it’s a vital step in your routine. By incorporating specialised eye creams, serums, balms and masks, you can address common concerns like fine lines, puffiness, and dark circles more effectively than with general skincare alone.
