What is Aloe Vera?

Aloe vera is a cactus-like plant that originally hails from the desert, but is now found in countries across the globe (and probably in your local garden centre too).
The leaves of the aloe plant are brimming with aloe vera gel, a liquid that features in everything from skincare to sunscreen. Used for centuries thanks to its renowned healing properties (it's long soothed first- and second-degree burns, for example), this medicinal plant has certainly stood the test of time as one of the most popular beauty ingredients.

What are the benefits?

Aloe vera gel is sourced from the fleshy leaves of the aloe vera plant. Thanks to its gentle, yet supremely effective, nature, it's perfect for sensitive skin.
From calming inflammation to hydrating dry patches, aloe vera juice provides unparalleled skin refreshment. Its anti-inflammatory properties can also help to soothe blemishes, as well as reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
What's more, aloe vera contains amino and salicylic acids which soften dead skin cells for effective exfoliation.
