Why Choose Tropic This International Women's Day
Why championing women is at the forefront of all that we do here at Tropic, from our limited edition totes to our totally awesome CEO – this one’s for the girls!
At Tropic, we’re somewhat partial to a bit of female empowerment. In fact, our Infinite Purpose is to help create a healthier, greener, more empowered world.
To mark the month of March, we’re here to tell you why there’s still a need for International Women’s Day, and what we’re doing to empower women from all walks of life, in all kinds of ways.
An estimated 1.5 million young women lost income since the start of the pandemic and since March, 69 per cent of young women claiming benefits did so for the first time – this IWD we’re supporting Young Women’s Trust (with all profits from our limited edition tote bags) in an attempt to combat these shocking statistics.
It’s estimated that COVID-19 has put 2.5 million more girls at risk of underage marriage, violating their rights and directly correlating with a predicted increase in gender-based violence. Through Tropic’s partnership with United World Schools, we’ve provided a year’s worth of education to 7,317 girls who previously had no access to school, helping them avoid the clutches of child marriage.
Out of 25 leaders at Tropic, 14 of them are female, plus the entire business is female-led by our Founder and CEO, Susie Ma.
Through our partnership with Beam, we’ve supported 18 homeless women so far by helping them find stable, paid work, giving them the opportunity to build a brighter future.
Our (mostly female) family of Ambassadors is empowered by the opportunity to set up their own small businesses, with 96.86 per cent saying they would recommend being a Tropic Ambassador to friends, family or colleagues.
We’ve supported The Winnie Mabaso Foundation in raising 23 incredible girls who were previously abused, abandoned and orphaned before joining the Mabaso family.
The beautiful design on our limited edition tote bags has been created by a young female UK artist, Immy Patron, in order to help us raise vital funds for young UK women struggling to find work.
On International Women's Day and EVERY day, it's important to celebrate women. By supporting Tropic, you’re empowering girls across the globe with the knowledge that they deserve more.
