From homemade skincare to a thriving beauty community.

Where It All Began
In 2002, my mum and I moved from Cairns, Australia to London.
Money was tight. I was fifteen and I wanted to help.
Inspired by my childhood in North Queensland – where the tropics were my playground – and my grandmother – a medicinal chemist and toxicologist who believed that when you ‘feed’ the skin well, it shows – I recreated her body scrub recipe at our kitchen table.
I filled 50 recycled jam jars and took them to Greenwich Market.
That scrub, later named Body Smooth and still a bestseller today, was the beginning of Tropic.
Back then there was no business plan.
Just late nights making products. Early mornings at the market.
And one clear goal: to help my mum pay the bills.
Growing Beyond The Market Stall
Those first jam jars were just the beginning.
Today, Tropic is a multi-award-winning skincare brand with millions of customers and over 70,000 five-star reviews.
We still freshly make our products in the UK at our Surrey Beauty Kitchen.
Every formula combines three things:
nutrient-rich botanicals, clinical science, and freshly made ingredients.
But the most important part of Tropic has always been people.
More than 20,000 Ambassadors now share Tropic across the UK and Channel Islands.
Friends recommending products to friends.
Kitchen table conversations.
Communities built on trust.
It’s not so different from those early market stall days.

Business As A Force For Good
From the start, I believed business should do more than sell products.
It should create opportunity.
Support communities.
Leave things better than it found them.
That’s why our Ambassador model exists. Thousands of people have built confidence, income, and friendships by sharing Tropic with others.
Beyond our business model, we’re committed to making a wider impact too.
Through our partnership with UWS, we’ve funded over 7.5 million school days and opened five Tropic-funded schools in Nepal, Cambodia, and Madagascar.
We are also a CarbonNeutral® company. We’re reducing our use of virgin plastic, and we donate 10% of profits to charities and good causes worldwide.
These choices guide how we grow.
Because Tropic’s purpose has always been bigger than skincare.

We’re Just Getting Started
When I stood at Greenwich Market at fifteen, I couldn’t have imagined where this journey would lead.
Today, Tropic is still founder-led.
We still freshly make 98% of our range in Britain.
And we still believe beauty should feel good – for your skin and for the world around you.
We’ve got some big things coming, and none of them could happen without the people who choose to be part of it.
Thank you for being part of Tropic.
It truly means everything.
With love & gratitude,
Susie
