2020, The year the World needed a hug

It’s been quite a year. In a climate of concerning news cycles and a testing tier system, we wanted to focus on a few of the positive outcomes of the last twelve months. From fighting UK poverty with the Trussell Trust to protecting our oceans across the globe, it’s been quite the year for Tropic and its charity partnerships. 

We've made so much progress on our journey towards achieving our Infinite Purpose – to help create a Healthier, Greener, more Empowered world – which wouldn’t have been possible without your support. In the face of adversity, we will always strive to be a force for good and a beacon of hope.

All formulations are lovingly created at Tropic HQ – harnessing the best in green skincare science – with products made on site every day for ultimate freshness.

Trussell Trust

Tropic is donating all of the profits from our new Keep It Clean Hand Sanitiser to the Trussell Trust, whose mission is to stop UK hunger and poverty by supporting a network of food banks that help people in crisis. We've donated over £75,000 so far.

0 Waste

We’ve sent 0 waste to landfill for the last two years, and we’re not thinking about giving that up any time soon.

Protect Land + Sea

Tropic is the first beauty brand in the UK and Europe to have received reef-safe certification from Protect Land + Sea for our sunscreen range, which contains no known harmful pollutants to marine ecosystems. 

Ethically Accredited

Tropic has been Ethically Accredited for 3 years and is independently endorsed by the Ethical Company Organisation.

Vegan and Cruelty Free

Tropic has always been a Vegan and cruelty-free company. We’ll never compromise on our values, standing with the Vegan Society, and Cruelty Free International now and always.

Refills

Our completely refillable, innovatively designed Colour Palette has prevented over 10 tonnes of plastic waste being generated compared to our previous makeup range. That's the equivalent of 250,000 plastic bottles! (Valpak).

All of our natural serums and oils come in refillable bottles, eliminating plastic waste.

Think Dirty 

Every formulation is verified by Think Dirty®, a smartphone app designed for conscious consumers to search for products and their ingredients, to help them shop the safest beauty and self-care items. 

The Winnie Mabaso Foundation

Since 2017, Tropic and our Ambassadors have raised over £250,000 for the Winnie Mabaso Foundation, a South African charity that cares for poverty-stricken women and children, often affected by HIV/AIDS, to provide opportunities which help them reach their full potential in the face of adversity.

CarbonNeutral®

Tropic, as always, is one step ahead in the beauty industry. We've not only been a certified CarbonNeutral® company for 3 years, but we actually double offset our carbon, meaning we offset twice as much as we use.

Since becoming a CarbonNeutral® certified company, we've delivered over £21.5 million worth of value to households, infrastructure and biodiversity through our double carbon offset schemes (ICROA). 

We've also offset the equivalent of over 4,000 football pitches worth of forest growing for an entire year. 

Family

Behind the brand is a family of over 30,000 Ambassadors, who Tropic have empowered with the opportunity to be their very own beauty business owners.

Conservation 

Tropic has funded conservation work in the Amazon and helped to protect 65,000 hectares of forest from unsustainable palm oil conversion in Indonesia. Tropic sources one of our best-loved natural ingredients – shea butter – from an organisation called AAK, whose core mission is sustainable sourcing through responsible suppliers. 

AAK’s Kolo Nafaso programme is a direct purchasing scheme that supports over 30,000 women wild-harvesting shea kernels across what is known as the ‘Shea Belt’ in Western Africa, stretching through Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria and Guinea.

United World Schools

Tropic is working with United World Schools (UWS) to help make our shared dream of every child having access to education a reality. Every order funds education for children living in some of the poorest and most remote communities on the planet. In 2020 we opened our first fully-funded school in Cambodia.
