On International Women’s Day, we teamed up with UK charity Young Women’s Trust to raise money to support women aged 18-30 in the UK – who are living on low to no pay – gain the skills and guidance they need to reach their full potential and financial stability.
In order to raise this money, we’ve launched a limited edition sustainable canvas tote bag, which has been created in collaboration with young, emerging British female artist Immy Patron. All profits from this bag will be donated to Young Women’s Trust to help change the lives of young women in the UK.
Why did we pick Young Women’s Trust?
There are 1 million young women in England and Wales struggling to live on low or no pay. We want them to thrive and have a fairer working future. No young woman should be at the back of the queue as the country tries to cope with coronavirus. This International Women’s Day, we’ve teamed up with them to help unlock young women’s potential and remove career stereotypes. We want women to recognise their own strengths.
Like Tropic, Young Women’s Trust stands shoulder to shoulder with all women, no matter their race, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic background, disability, neurodiversity, gender identity or sexual orientation, and we’re very proud to be working with them.
Why did we pick Immy Patron to work with?
In the spirit of International Women's Day and supporting young female creatives, we wanted to collaborate with an artist who, like many of the women that Young Women's Trust support, had little experience in the industry but an abundance of talent and potential.
This was Immy's first big paid collaboration and we think she did an awesome job! For many young creatives it can be tough to get a foot in the door in their industry, but at Tropic we think it's important to work with others based on their abilities, rather than their experience.
