WORLD RAINFOREST DAY 2022
Did you know that your orders help us to protect rainforests? Read on to find out more!
WHAT IS WORLD RAINFOREST DAY?
World Rainforest Day celebrates the luscious tropical rainforests across the globe, and spreads awareness around the vital role they play in climate regulation. Today, we celebrate our ongoing investment in Amazon rainforest conservation, which works to prevent deforestation and protect natural resources through community and education.
From the dewy, subtropical canopies of Australia to the mysterious depths of the Amazon, rainforests are home to more species of plants and animals than any other biome. If you were to pack your binoculars and bucket hat, and embark on a rainforest safari around the world, you’d spot many Tropic ingredients in the wild! Murumuru (the buttery base of our Skin Dream Firming Night Cream) is native to the Amazon and glossy macadamia nuts (which provide the strengthening properties in Nourishing Hair Cleanser) are found in the lush rainforests of Queensland, Australia.
Aside from being incredibly beautiful and bountiful, leafy rainforests also help to reduce the terrifying levels of harmful gases lurking in our atmosphere. Often described as the Earth's lungs, they essentially act as air purifiers, absorbing carbon dioxide emissions and producing the clean oxygen we need to breathe.
WE ARE RAINFOREST GUARDIANS
As you can see, protecting rainforests from destruction is crucial to our planet’s wellbeing. That’s why we use the profits from your orders to invest in the Acre Amazonian Rainforest Conservation project in South America. This initiative that aims to protect parts of the Amazon in Brazil and prevent deforestation and species loss across 105,000 hectares of pristine forest.
In the state of Acre, around 90% of the land is forested, but current trends of deforestation estimate this to decline to 65% by 2030. By working with local communities and empowering Brazilian farmers, the project aims to halt the alarming rate of deforestation, as well as making a positive impact. The program provides agricultural training for locals, promoting sustainable livelihoods that are economically beneficial too. So far, the project has delivered 44 agriculture courses to farmers – improving the diversification of their production and increasing their yields – proving that sustainable farming is better for people and planet!
Thank you for helping us invest in this crucial work through your orders. You not only help us to double offset our carbon footprint, but to protect Earth's most valuable resources. It's all part of our Infinite Purpose to create a greener, healthier, more empowered world. Happy World Rainforest Day!
