Soft, smouldering eyes and seductive, glazed lips. This edgy look brings 90s glamour up-to-date, with warm caramel and maca tones to enrich that ombré, smoky eye. A modernised throwback we just can’t resist.
We worked with makeup artist, Rebecca Barnes, to bring you this tutorial. Alongside your base essentials and tools, you can recreate this look, demonstrated here on Maxine, with our customisable, sustainable Colour Palette.
"To master this winged eye makeup, don’t blend the shadow with your eyes closed. Open up those peepers and look directly into the mirror to get a more accurate shape."
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
Using the Beauty Drop Sponge, apply Beauty Booster to the centre of the face and buff the product outwards. For a flawless base, apply a slightly lighter shade of Illuma Light Concealer to the under-eyes and T-zone, before swapping to a slightly darker shade to bronze and contour your cheekbones and temples with the pointed end of your sponge. Then, grab your Powder brush and set the face with a dusting of Soft Focus Perfecting Powder.
Sketch Silk Gel Liner in Ebony onto the eyelid and smudge out into a smoky wing, using the small end of your Flat Detailing Brush. For a defining and dramatic frame, lightly blend some more liner under the lash line, making sure to stay really close to the lash line itself.
On top of the Silk Gel Liner base, apply Eyes On You in Bamboo Charcoal all over the lid with the large side of the flat detailing brush for intensity and smokiness. Next up, buff Eyes On You in Cinnamon towards the brow bone with the fluffy end of your Eye Shadow Brush. Then, apply a dusting underneath the lash line using the pointed end of your Eye Shadow Brush. Repeat these steps with Maca Eyes on You. Finally, using the flat side of your 3in1 Eye Brush, illuminate the inner corners of your eyes with Way To Glow.
After brushing your brows with the spoolie end of your 3in1 Eye Brush, use the angled end to fill and fluff the brows with Brow Boss Defining Powder. A coat of Fixing Gel Mascara, a sweep of Lash Extension Fibres, and another coat of mascara will bring extra drama and volume to your sultry, smoulder.
To add an even richer, caramel glow, apply a swish of Jet Set to your cheekbones, temples and lower jawline using the Powder Brush.
Next, use the pointed end of your Face Precision Brush to buff Way To Glow across the high points of your face for instant radiance.
Last but not least – your lips. Slightly overline them using your Line Up lip pencil and fill with Lip Glaze for that 90s-inspired look.
